The Friday market in Merano
The large Friday market is one of the best-known weekly markets in South Tyrol. It starts at Piazzale Prader in front of the station and runs towards the town centre along Via Andreas Hofer up to Via Mainardo. The traders come from all over northern Italy.
Piazzale Prader is mainly fresh food: bread, fruit, vegetables and fish, plus speck and cheese. Closer to the centre you will find shoes, traditional and sports clothing, costume jewellery, household goods and leather. In spring, flowers, plants, seedlings and seeds are added.
So if you are anywhere near Merano, Friday morning is worth the detour even without a fixed plan – the market belongs to Merano just like the arcades and the promenades.

How to find our stall
We are in the front section on Piazzale Prader, where the food and speciality stalls are. Look for the large green gazebos with our logo.
Getting there and parking
Good to know: Piazzale Prader is a large free car park during the week – but not on Fridays. That is when the market is held there. Plan for a different car park.
Your options:
- Untermais/Maia Bassa station – free, easy to reach from the expressway.
- Plaza car park or Karl Wolf car park – paid, both close to the centre.
The train is easiest: the market starts right outside Merano station. You step off and you are there.

Viworo is a family business from Lana, since 1989. We stand at the stall ourselves, so you talk to the people who actually source the oils.
