A rosemary hair oil takes five minutes to make: jojoba oil, a few drops of essential oil, an applicator bottle. Here you will find the recipe with exact drop counts, the steps, what each use costs and the safety rules – with no miracle promises.

In short: 50 ml jojoba oil + 12–15 drops of organic rosemary essential oil. Apply to the scalp with the comb bottle, massage for 3–5 minutes, leave for 1–2 hours (or overnight), then wash as usual. 1–2 times a week. Cost: about €1 per use.

Why rosemary for hair?

Rosemary has been the Mediterranean hair-care herb for centuries – grandmothers added it to the final rinse. Today it is used mainly diluted in a carrier oil for scalp massage. The fresh, herbal scent makes the ritual pleasant, the jojoba oil nourishes the scalp and leaves hair soft and shiny.

One thing we say up front, because so many people ask: we make no promise about hair growth. Our rosemary oil is a care oil, not a treatment. If you are losing a lot of hair, talk to a doctor or dermatologist. What the oil can certainly do: turn five minutes of massage into a moment just for you – with a scent that wakes up your head.

Everything for your hair oil

The set already contains everything in the right amounts. If you have jojoba oil at home, you only need the rosemary and the applicator bottle.

The basic recipe

50 ml jojoba12–15 dropsabout 1.3%8–10 uses
100 ml jojoba25–30 dropsabout 1.3%15–20 uses

A dilution of around 1–1.5% is just right for the scalp: enough scent, no irritation. You do not need more – pure essential oil never belongs on the skin.

Step by step

  1. Pour the jojoba oil into the applicator bottle (50 ml lasts two weeks).
  2. Add 12–15 drops of rosemary, close and shake well for 10 seconds.
  3. Apply along the partings: use the bottle's comb to divide the hair into 4–5 lines and let the oil run straight onto the scalp.
  4. Massage for 3–5 minutes with your fingertips in circular movements – the best part.
  5. Leave for 1–2 hours (or overnight with a towel on the pillow), then shampoo as usual. If the hair still feels oily, shampoo a second time.

What does one use cost?

50 ml of jojoba oil (€5) plus 15 drops of rosemary (about 0.75 ml, €0.75) come to under €6 for 8–10 uses – roughly 60–70 cents each time. With the set, bottle included, you are at about €1 per use in the first weeks and well below that afterwards, because the 10 ml of rosemary oil holds over 200 drops.

How often and for how long?

1–2 times a week is the right rhythm for most people. Very dry hair can take the oil overnight; oily hair prefers 30–60 minutes and a thorough wash. Give the ritual a few weeks: the scalp gets used to it and the hair becomes softer to comb.

Safety: the five rules

  • Always diluted. Never pure essential oil on skin or scalp.
  • First time? Do the patch test on the inside of your elbow and wait 24 hours.
  • Keep away from the eyes. On contact, rinse with carrier oil, not water.
  • Not for children under 6, and during pregnancy or with epilepsy ask your doctor first – rosemary ct. cineole is a strong oil.
  • Irritated scalp or wounds? Let them heal before oiling again.

Frequently asked questions

Does rosemary oil make hair grow?

The question everyone asks – and the honest answer: we do not promise it. Studies and videos circulate online, but a care oil is not a medical treatment. Use it for what it certainly does – a pleasant massage, a nourished scalp, soft and scented hair – and see a dermatologist for serious hair loss.

Can I use almond oil instead of jojoba?

Yes. Jojoba is closest to the skin's natural sebum and does not feel greasy; almond oil is richer and ideal for dry or frizzy hair. The rosemary dosage stays the same.

How long do I leave the oil in?

At least 30 minutes, ideally 1–2 hours. Overnight is fine for dry hair – put a towel on the pillow.

Can I add rosemary straight to my shampoo?

Better not: in shampoo it stays for seconds and washes away. The oil with massage and time to work is far more effective as a care ritual – and you use less essential oil.

How do I store the blend?

In the closed bottle, away from light and heat, it keeps for 3–4 months. If the smell changes, it is time for a fresh one. The pure essential oil keeps for up to 24 months after opening if well sealed.
