What is grounding and how does it work during sleep?
Il grounding, also called earthing or earthing, means the conductive contact between the body and the electrical potential of the Earth. Outdoors this contact can happen by walking barefoot on suitable surfaces. In the bedroom it is reproduced with a grounding sheet made of conductive fibres and connected to the earth of your home wiring.
A normal cotton sheet does not conduct in a controlled way. The Geosan silver sheet instead contains cotton and silver fibre: the silver creates a conductive surface, while the cable connects this surface to earth. The product should not be confused with an electric blanket: it does not heat, contains no batteries and is not powered by mains electricity.

What are grounding sheets?

Grounding sheet and electrosmog: what it can and cannot do
A conductive sheet connected to a suitable earth can bring the bed surface to the same potential as the earth. This principle is measurable with the right instruments. From this, however, no automatic promise follows of sleeping better, removing pain or curing diseases.

Does the grounding sheet really work?
There are small preliminary studies on grounding and some physiological parameters. They are interesting indications, but not yet definitive clinical proof.
Among the most frequently cited works are Ghaly & Teplitz (2004) on nocturnal cortisol in 12 subjects and the studies by Chevalier (2012–2015) on parameters such as inflammation and blood viscosity. Small samples, often without a control group: that is why we read them as indications, not as proof.

Sizes and double bed
Grounding sheet for a double bed: do you need one or two?
The Geosan silver sheet measures 200 × 90 cm. It is laid lengthwise — head to foot, not across — so it covers one full side of the bed; you can also place it under the cotton sheet. You don't need to sleep directly on it.
One sheet is almost always enough
Even in a double bed a single sheet is usually enough. In our experience the effect reaches about 2 metres around the sheet, so it covers the whole bed — without both people needing to sleep directly on it.
Two sheets only if…
one of the two people is particularly exposed (many electronic devices, a lot of electrosmog): in that case you can use one sheet per person, each with its own cable.

What is a grounding sheet?
It is a conductive fabric, usually cotton with silver fibres, connected to earth via a dedicated cable. Grounding and earthing mean the same principle.
Does the sheet use electric current?
No. The cable must be connected only to the earth provided by the system. The sheet is not powered by live and neutral. The cable has a built-in 100 kΩ safety resistor that limits current should a fault occur in your wiring. The socket and wiring must nonetheless be sound and correctly installed.
Do I need a working earthed socket?
Yes. Before use you must check that the earth is present and working. If you're not sure, have your wiring checked by a qualified electrician.
Do I have to sleep directly on the sheet?
Conductivity depends on contact and on the fabric used. Follow the specific product instructions. For the best contact, avoid thick layers or insulating materials between skin and conductive surface.
How do I wash it?
Wash it at 30–40 °C without fabric softener and without bleach, with a gentle spin and air drying. Oily products and softeners can reduce the fibres' conductivity.
For a double bed, do you need one or two?
As a rule a single sheet is enough, even in a double bed: you don't need to sleep directly on it and in our experience the effect reaches about 2 metres around the sheet, covering the whole bed. Lay it lengthwise (head to foot, not across); you can also place it under the cotton sheet. Only if one of the two people is particularly exposed do we recommend one sheet per person.
