The Stegen Market
The Stegen Market (Stegener Markt) is the largest market in South Tyrol and one of the largest in the Alpine region. It is documented as early as 1242. It takes place every year on fixed dates, 26 to 28 October, whatever day of the week that is – in 2026 it runs Monday to Wednesday.
In 2024 there were around 400 stalls and 15,000 to 20,000 visitors: travelling traders, farmers selling their own produce, craftspeople, food stands and a large farm machinery exhibition. The place to stock up for winter.
On the second day, 27 October, there is the livestock market – traditionally the main market day, when farmers from the whole Puster Valley come together. For children there is a funfair with rides, open from 10 am to 9 pm.
When we are there
We are there on all three days, from 8 am until about 5 pm. Depending on the weather, stalls may close earlier.
Our tip: it is quietest early in the morning. Livestock market day (Tuesday, 27 October) is the main market day – if you want to take your time and get advice, come on the first or third day.

Look for the large green gazebos with our logo. Message us on WhatsApp and we will tell you exactly where we are.
Getting there and parking
Easiest by train: an underpass leads from Bruneck station straight onto the market grounds. The Puster Valley line is running end to end again.
The market square itself is closed to traffic during the market. According to the municipality there are about 2,000 parking spaces around the grounds, including:
- by Bruneck town hall
- by NOBIS
- by the Bruneck dairy (Milchhof)
- in the school zone – also for coaches
On livestock market day it is busiest – come early or take the train. Public toilets are at the entrances to the market grounds.
