Red Poppy Extract (Corn Poppy, Papaver rhoeas)
For balance in everyday life. Also suitable for your children from age 3. Hydroalcoholic 1:1 extract from the silky petals of the Red Poppy – also known as Corn Poppy or Field Poppy. Made in a specialised laboratory in Italy.
Many families know this:
- In the evening, the whole family struggles to slow down.
- Even the kids could use a small ritual.
- You want a mild plant, not a sharp extract.
That’s exactly why Red Poppy exists.
The mild plant of European tradition
The Red Poppy (Papaver rhoeas) – also called Corn Poppy, Field Poppy or Flanders Poppy – is the fiery red bloom at the edge of European wheat fields. In Italy it’s called Rosolaccio, in France Coquelicot, in Germany Klatschmohn.
Italian grandmothers have prepared Rosolaccio syrup for the children for generations: traditionally valued for its mild character and as part of the whole family’s evening ritual. Important: not an opium poppy – an entirely different species without morphine or codeine. Alcohol content: 30% Vol.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Is the Red Poppy the same plant as the opium poppy?
No, absolutely not. The Red Poppy (Papaver rhoeas) is an entirely different species from the opium poppy (Papaver somniferum). The Red Poppy contains its own alkaloids such as rhoeadine, which have nothing to do with the alkaloids of the opium poppy. It is freely grown across Europe and has been part of herbal tradition for centuries.
Red Poppy, Corn Poppy, Field Poppy – same plant?
Yes, all three are English names for Papaver rhoeas. „Red Poppy" is the most common term, „Corn Poppy" refers to its habit of growing in wheat fields, „Field Poppy" is the British name, „Flanders Poppy" is the commemorative name from World War I. In Italian: Papavero Rosso / Rosolaccio; in French: Coquelicot; in German: Klatschmohn.
Red Poppy extract dosage – how much to take?
The suggested amount is 5 to 10 drops in a little water, 2–3 times per day. Evening intake is the most traditional. Start with the lower dose the first time and see how it feels.
Is Red Poppy extract suitable for children?
Yes, in Italian folk tradition Rosolaccio syrup was prepared specifically for young children for centuries. The hydroalcoholic extract is considered suitable from age 3 with age-appropriate dosing (3–5 drops). For younger children or if unsure, consult your paediatrician first.
What is Tintura Madre (Mother Tincture)?
Tintura Madre (also called Mother Tincture) is a traditional phytotherapeutic extraction method. The petals are macerated in a hydroalcoholic solution at a 1:1 ratio (one part plant, one part solvent), producing a concentrated extract that preserves the full spectrum of active compounds.
Can I combine Red Poppy with other plants?
Yes, traditionally Red Poppy is combined with California Poppy, Passionflower, Valerian, and Lemon Balm. If you take any medication, talk to your doctor first.
How do I store the extract?
Away from light and heat sources. The amber glass bottle protects the contents. Refrigeration is not necessary.
