Cosy bedroom with natural atmosphere for restful sleep

Why We Struggle to Wind Down

Our modern lifestyle takes its toll. During the day we are exposed to artificial blue light and constant hustle; in the evening we often lack a conscious transition into relaxation. Racing thoughts and inner restlessness are the result when we do not help our body switch off.

Blue Light and Screens

Smartphones, laptops, and TVs emit blue light that suppresses melatonin production. Your body thinks it is still daytime – and stays on high alert, even when you are tired.

Missing Transition

Straight from the sofa to bed – without a conscious transition, the mind stays in daytime mode. The nervous system is missing the signal to switch from the sympathetic (activation) to the parasympathetic (rest) state.

Racing Thoughts

To-do lists, worries, unresolved conversations – without a ritual to switch off, thoughts keep spinning. The result: you lie awake even though you are exhausted.

Good to Know: The Parasympathetic System

To sleep well, your body needs to activate rest mode (the parasympathetic nervous system). Rituals and scents are a proven way to signal to the mind: "The day is over, you can let go now." This is not esoteric – it is neurobiology.

Step 1: Aromatherapy as a Gentle Companion

Scents act directly on the limbic system – the centre for emotions and memory. Certain plant essences have been used for centuries to create an atmosphere of comfort and calm.

Swiss Stone Pine – The Queen of the Alps

Organic Swiss stone pine oil brings the scent of a forest walk straight to your bedroom. It is traditionally valued for creating a calm and grounding atmosphere. The warm, woody fragrance helps you switch off after a long day.

Fine Lavender – The Classic

A classic of natural tradition. Organic fine lavender oil is known for its balancing properties and helps you unwind after a long day. The floral-herbal scent brings calm to your evening ritual.

Application Tip

Add 3–5 drops of Swiss stone pine or fine lavender to your ultrasonic diffuser, about 30 minutes before going to bed. Run it in interval mode (30 min. on, then off). This way the scent is present when you fall asleep, without running all night.

Natural Companions: Herbal Extracts for the Night

In addition to aromatherapy via the diffuser, herbal extracts (mother tinctures) can complement your evening ritual. These drops are traditionally taken to prepare body and mind for the night. The extracts are produced in a specialised laboratory in Italy – as 1:1 hydroalcoholic extracts with no additives.

Passionflower (Passiflora)

The Passiflora mother tincture is traditionally valued for accompanying moments of calm and relaxation. Many people use it as a fixed part of their evening ritual – 5–10 drops in a glass of water or herbal tea, about 30–60 minutes before bedtime.

Hawthorn (Biancospino)

The hawthorn extract is known in European herbal tradition as the "plant of the heart". It is traditionally taken in the evening – as part of a relaxing bedtime ritual. 5–10 drops in water or herbal tea.

Tip: Combining Diffuser + Extract

For a holistic evening ritual: Passiflora drops in herbal tea + Swiss stone pine in the diffuser. This way you engage both the sense of smell and the body – a combination that many of our customers find particularly soothing.

Step 2: Grounding – Earthing for Better Sleep

Beyond scents, physical relaxation also plays a role. Many people report feeling more balanced through "earthing" (connecting with the earth). Since we rarely sleep on grass at night, there are solutions for the home.

Sleeping on Silver

The silver sheet uses conductive silver threads to connect you to the earth via your socket's grounding. Many users report that it helps reduce static charge and support general well-being during the night. Combined with aromatherapy, it offers a holistic approach to restful sleep.

Step 3: Your New Evening Ritual

The body loves routine. When you follow the same ritual every evening, your nervous system learns to respond to the signals and switch into rest mode more quickly.

1

9:30 PM – Start the Diffuser

Add 3–5 drops of Swiss stone pine or fine lavender to the diffuser. The scent gently fills the room and signals to your body: time to switch off.

2

10:00 PM – Screens Off

Put away your smartphone, close the laptop, turn off the TV. Blue light suppresses melatonin production – without screens, your body can produce the sleep hormone undisturbed. Instead: read, listen to soft music, or simply enjoy the scent.

3

10:15 PM – Time for Bed

Enjoy the scent and the calm. If you use the silver sheet, it connects you to the earth via grounding. Breathe consciously through your nose – the scent of the essential oils becomes the anchor for your sleep.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which essential oil helps best for falling asleep?

Fine lavender and Swiss stone pine are the most popular oils for nighttime. Fine lavender has a balancing and calming effect, while Swiss stone pine creates a grounding, woody atmosphere. Try both and discover which scent brings you the most calm.

Can I leave the diffuser running all night?

We recommend interval mode: 30–60 minutes on, then off. Continuous operation through the entire night is not necessary – your nose adapts to the scent after about 30 minutes anyway (olfactory adaptation). Start the diffuser 30 minutes before bedtime and the room will be perfectly scented.

How many drops do I need for the bedroom?

3–5 drops are sufficient for a bedroom of 15–20 m². Less is more – overdosing can cause headaches and have the opposite effect. Start with 3 drops and increase if needed.

Is aromatherapy a substitute for medical treatment of sleep disorders?

No. Essential oils and evening rituals can support your well-being and sleep hygiene, but they are not a substitute for medical diagnosis and therapy for chronic sleep disorders. If you regularly have trouble sleeping, please consult your doctor.

Can I combine herbal extracts and essential oils?

Yes, they complement each other very well. Herbal extracts like Passiflora work from within (as drops in water or tea), while essential oils in the diffuser work through the sense of smell. The combination engages different senses and makes your evening ritual more holistic.

What is grounding and does it really help with sleep?

Grounding (earthing) means connecting your body to the earth – e.g. via conductive materials like a silver sheet. Many users report better sleep and improved well-being. Research is still in its early stages, but the experience reports are promising.
