Hydroalcoholic extract from hawthorn leaves and flowers. Made in a specialised laboratory in Italy with a 1:1 extraction ratio.

Hawthorn extract in bottle with dropper

      What is Hawthorn Extract

An extract obtained from the leaves and flowers of Hawthorn (Crataegus oxyacantha L.), a thorny shrub with a centuries-old tradition in Europe. The extraction is carried out using a hydroalcoholic method at a 1:1 ratio, preserving the complete active profile – particularly flavonoids and polyphenols.

Made in a specialised laboratory in Italy. Alcohol content: 30% vol.

      The plant: Hawthorn (Crataegus oxyacantha)

Hawthorn is a thorny shrub or small tree belonging to the Rosaceae family – the same family as roses, apples and cherries. It grows wild throughout Europe, North Africa and Western Asia, along woodland edges, in hedgerows and on hillsides.

In European tradition, Hawthorn has been known for centuries as the "plant of the heart". In spring it is covered with delicate white blossoms, followed by small red berries in autumn. The flowers and leaves are the parts richest in flavonoids and polyphenols – and these are the very parts used for our extract.

Leaves and flowers are harvested in spring during the blooming period, when the active compound content is at its peak.

      Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Why is the alcohol content 30%?

Hawthorn leaves and flowers contain water-soluble active compounds such as flavonoids and polyphenols. An alcohol content of 30% vol. is sufficient to fully extract this profile and produce a balanced extract.

What is a Mother Tincture (T.M.)?

A Mother Tincture is a traditional method of herbal extraction. The plant is macerated in a hydroalcoholic solution at a 1:1 ratio (one part plant to one part solvent), producing a concentrated extract that preserves the full spectrum of active compounds.

Which botanical family does Hawthorn belong to?

Hawthorn belongs to the Rosaceae family – the same family as roses, apples, cherries, strawberries and almonds. It grows wild throughout Europe.

When is the best time to take it?

Traditionally, Hawthorn is taken in the evening, as part of a relaxing evening ritual. It can also be used during the day.

How long does a bottle last?

It depends on the dosage. With regular use of 10 drops twice daily, the 30 ml size lasts approximately 2-3 weeks. The 100 ml size lasts several months.

How should I store the extract?

Keep away from light and heat sources. Refrigeration is not necessary.
